Pregnant or Postpartum women only. Phone consultation before booking.
Service Description
This evaluation will take place in your home. Dr Kiri will show up 5 minutes before the scheduled time to set up her mobile treatment table, sheet and tools to be used during the examination. Please have a space set up in your home that can be relatively private, preferably an extra room if others are present in your house during the appointment time, in which you can have privacy if pelvic examination has been discussed and will be performed. Kiri's treatment table is approximately the size of a crib, slightly wider, and will be used during this examination. Please note that We ask that you please wear flexible clothing in which you could exercise in. The evaluation will include a subjective exam, including past medical hx, pain description, describing aggravating activities, and letting Kiri know anything that has provided relief to your dysfunction so far. Afterwards, Kiri will perform a full orthopedic examination of the joints at, above and below your area of pain/weakness. This will include strength testing, range of motion testing, and activity tolerance testing. If one of your primary concerns is pelvic floor dysfunction, including urinary incontinence, pelvic pain, or postpartum/prenatal related concerns, a pelvic examination may be advised. If this part of the examination is recommended, Kiri will step out for a few minutes to allow you to undress from the waist down. You will go under a sheet on the table provided, Dr. Kiri will return into the room, receive your verbal confirmation that you consent to performing the musculoskelatal pelvic examination, and the examination will begin. **For, your own comfort during this part of the examination, it is recommended that you have an activity for any older children to do so they do not disturb you during this portion.** This part of the examination will include an internal and external examination of the 3 layers of pelvic floor muscles, assessing your strength, tissue length and endurance in the muscles as a whole. Part of this examination may include a standing assessment, in which Dr Kiri will assess what your pelvic floor is doing in standing if any symptoms of heaviness with prolonged upright activity are present. Following the examination, a short 20 minute treatment will be performed, programmed depending on what the results of the examination entail, and exercise or soft tissue mobilization homework will be given to do before first follow up. *upcharge of $5 for distance > 20 min*
